Ie9 and norton toolbar

I went on Manage Addons and checked whether they were enabled or not, and they were, so where did all these addons go?

I heavily rely on the norton toolbar and require it, anyone know how to get it back? Then select View - Toolbars and check Norton Toolbar if it is there and it then shoud show up. I tried what both of you asked me to do but none of it worked; I still don't have any addons.

Any other help? In the mix I lost all of the add-on toolbars. Your suggestion fixed everything. Thank you for the suggestion to enable 3rd party browser extensions. Restarted, works like a charm, thank you so much!! Back to top.

Reg: Jul Kudos 0. I have x20 and W7x64 on a test system and no problem there. Be sure to do a cold boot after this process so that everything is forced to reload and become aware of everything else that is installed.

Is you wife's user name PeggSue? When I have my Norton toolbar unticked - there is no Box to click on. Once you hover over the Norton Toolbar entry, you can click on it and it should pop up an enable box. I see no need to attempt to delete IE9 and download a fresh copy as you already have IE 9 32 bit set as the default. I have already removed norton and run a removal tool and rebooted. However I do not know what a cold boot is so probably didn't do it properly!

Will try the removal of Norton and reinstall again as suggested, when I know what dickevens means by a cold boot. There is no check box until after NTB is enabled. Hover over NTB it should highlight and I do believe either a right or left click will then show it as enabled and there will be a checked box then.

Thanks for the advice. However, I have right clicked the norton toolbar and clicked to enable it, but right clicking the tool bars again I find it not enabled and still no enable box. I have removed Norton using the removal tool on the web site, and it has reinstalled an up to date version, but still not Norton Toolbar has appeared. I did a cold boot. Thank you for responding.

I have done the removal and install using your link and the removal tool on the website. I rebooted after shutting down completely. Please note they are all enabled. Going back to look at the View Menu again after that I see it has placed a check mark in front of it and add the box the check mark is in as show in the seond screenshot.

I have been doing as you demonstrate, to enable it, but I do not get the result of an enabled toolbar. It's like a switch is not working. Please click on enable in that menu. Any joy? OK OneJim, we're going to try to remove your NIS in a different way this time - in order to clean everything up prior to the reinstall.

Regardless of how you get there - this is what you are looking for. My computer is different to yours and doesn't work and look exactly as you say, but I can see how to do it now. Thank you for getting in touch and letting me know your experience. I will be back to tell more. When I was installing N a box popped up in the right hand bottom corner of the screen, saying a toolbar has been blocked.

It disappeared before I could click on it, so I ran the removal tool again, and when reinstalling I managed to catch it, and alter the setting. However, it has done no good, just like all the other times I have tried to change things. I am getting a very annoying De De De noise that I suspected was a driver problem. At the same time have developed a problem printing. It goes through all the motions but as the paper comes out there is no printing on the page!

So I have downloaded an updated driver from Epson, but it has not solved the problem, and I still get the loud De De noise. OneJim, Can you tell us which toolbar was being blocked and which setting and where the setting was that you changed? Is the De De noise coming from the printer? I must admit I do not know what a De De noise is. Have you gone back thru this thread and tried the suggestions again since you have the reinstall complete? Are they the correct version numbers as shown in my screenshot?

I will contact a Norton employee to see if we can get any help from them - or he can guide us to the fix. The De De noise is coming from the speakers attached to the PC. My wife heard something like it years ago when she had a driver problem. The little box did not say which toolbar was being blocked, and it did not indicate which programme or what ever, was doing it or who was doing the alerting. It wasn't Norton. I can recognise the Norton ones. They are offering solutions to registry problems it seems.

What you are seeing does not mean there is problem with the coieplg. That link merely sends you to a search function and the search function shows errors as that is wht thsoe who search look for. It does not mean that you have a problem with it.

If you click on the More Information link in that same block, does it provide the same basic info as below? Date last accessed,Use count and Block count I expect to be different than what is shown. Please be sure the Currently Loaded add-ons are being shown. Does the user have administrator privilages? Does the issue happens if he use "Run as Administrator" for IE?

Run Windows Update, and again restart the computer. Check if the issue happens. I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to do a screen shot. I looked up how to do it but it didn't work for some reason. I could paste it into a works doc. Do you have any ide what the entries in RED are above? Is it a program or what? I am curious s it is another toolbar. Also please double check your version number of A long shot, have you ever done anything to run in XP Compatability mode?

I am not that familiar with XP Mode, so I can not be too much help in that area. I am going to ask Norton again about this, but may not get a response until tomorrow at the earliest. See this old thread regarding the same problem in the products that was brought about by a Liveupdate push:. The sound you are hearing is the Windows "Device Failed to Connect" notification, and you are correct that it is a driver related issue.

Be sure to take special note of spywriter's last post in the thread We don't know what Mindspark Interactive Network is More information says its type is Browser helper Object - status disabled. Want to remove it. This computer has Windows 7, but does not have the 64 bit IE, only the 32 bit. I have seen a file path with x86 in relation to Internet Explorer. I really must find some that work and connect them. If it exsists, right click on the coieplg. I may be repeating myself, but have you gone to the main page of N , clicked on Support and the About fromt he drop down menu and tell us what the version is listed as?

Even if you are using the version 6 disc for the reinstall, ryunning the LiveUpdate should update your N to the latest version - which it appears it has not. I have checked the file path you wrote.

I couldn't find a file path 'Program Files 86 ' only 'Program Files'. After Norton I could only find 6. So, the file path you wanted me to look at does not exist. Please click on Start, then right click on Computer in the right hand column and then select Properties.

Look under the System Heading and tell us what System Type says? Does it show 64 bit Operating System or 32 bit? If it says 32 bit , then what you are saying about the Program Files X86 not being present makes sense.

Everything went belly up after that. I recently read this week, that there a couple of problems with IE9. For instance, with youtube, Adobe Flash Player. I called Nortons 3 times this week. The problem exists within IE9 and they cannot pinpoint them.

My sister had to go back to IE8, she had a total crash. The guy who answered her, said skip IE9 all together, then when IE10 comes out get that one. I cannot go back to IE8, the system won't let me.

However IE10 is coming out soon and I just can't wait. I get constant pop ups from Adobe Flash Player. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it about 6 times this week.

If you are running on a 64 bit, it is better to run on 32 bit I was told. Perhaps you ought to try that.
