The program develops decoding and encoding, reading comprehension, critical-thinking skills, memory retrieval, executive functioning skills, written language expression, self-advocacy, mathematical computation, social pragmatics, time-management skills, test preparation, and expressive language skills within a nurturing, academic environment. Students from fourth through twelfth grades from private, public, and parochial schools from New York City and abroad can participate in the program.

We offer or minute, individualized instructional sessions from June 28th to July 22nd. The July Focus Program is specifically tailored to target areas of greatest need of each student. An independent study program, SAT preparation course, or college preparatory class is also available. These programs rely on experts in the New York area to teach and mentor students and many offer a chance to explore the city or surrounding areas. So many programs offer residential programs that allow students to immerse themselves in NYC.

Along with class work, you can enjoy the sights and sounds, as well as meeting fellow students from all over the world. Campers must bring their lunch and snacks. In addition to the one-week camps, high school students entering grades are eligible for week courses. These programs utilize the same application but are not lottery-based.

Instead, a committee reviews individual applications, grades, and even references. Courses include a two-week Urban Farm Stewardship course with the Battery Conservancy, website and video game classes at the New-York Historical Society, hands-on glass-making workshops at Urban Glass, and more.

Due to the ongoing health crisis, we will be conducting our program virtually again this year. It is the nature of the era we currently live in that circumstances can change frequently. In order to maintain a level of consistency, we are able to confidently offer a robust online program for this summer without fear of having to make dramatic changes with little advance notice.
