On Sat 15, I downloaded the recommended updates, then tried to restart my computer and it would only reboot again and again and again. I could not start in SAFE mode and last know config did not work either.
I turned off automatic restart with failure and finally was able to see error message "Fatal system error" with a code of 0xCa. After much anguish, I tried a repair with my xp disk and that brought my machine back to life. Luckily, I did not loose any of my programs or data but I did loose all of the windows updates since I originally installed xp. I am using a dsl wirespeed modem with a netgear router and xp firewall.
I do not want to worry about security issues but I am afraid to install any windows updates. Any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance. Log in or Sign up to hide this advert.
